Green Acres is funded by an AI Interdisciplinary Collaboration grant and seeks to communicate decision making within multilayered networks as games for players to interact with.
Using data from the NLCD (National Land Cover Database), and in particular the western Lake Erie basin, we are training Machine Learning models that highlight interactions between humans and their environment to determine how gains and losses of land classified as Wetland, Forested, and Agriculture change over time and how they relate to agricultural runoff and impact water quality.
Other areas of research for future collaborations where resource management is critical may include:
- Environmental Justice
- Natural Resources
- Animal Husbandry
- Fish and Wildlife Management
